My Book Collection

I have this silly little dream. I want a tiny library that I can call mine. Hence, since last year, I have been spending a significant portion of my allowance purchasing books.

And because my blog severely lacks photo, here's some pictures of my tiny book collection (together with books from my childhood) taken with a recently borrowed DSLR.

A-before-we-start note: I'm using the Instragram effect (using fancy effects to hide the terrible quality of my pictures) because I'm a well, terrible photographer. Enjoy! :)

PS If you have tips you would like to share with me to help me use my DSLR more professionally, do feel free to comment!

The Importance of Youtube Ads

Recently, Youtube has decided to allow advertisements in its videos.

The advertisements appear in 2 main formats.

1. Pop ups.
They literally pop up during the video and you cancel it or try to cancel it and accidentally click on it, opening a new tab and annoying the shit of you.

2. Before the video
There are 2 types in this category.

5 seconds ad
They give you the option to cancel and skip the ad after 5 seconds. However, I think it is longer than 5 seconds. Sometimes, it just feels like forever.

You-have-to-watch-the-whole-bloody-thing Ads
As the title explains it, you have to watch the whole thing. The ads vary from 30s to 1 minute plus and in order for you to watch the video you wanted to watch, you have to be a good boy and watch Samsung try and convince you that their phone is better.

Seems annoying? Well they are and many people really don't like it. They think Youtube made a terrible decision and cruse and swear on social media platforms that Google has not bought... yet

However, I am here to today to try and tell why the ads are a good thing and you should be grateful for it.

Something that many people do not know, the advertising industry funds a lot of other industries out there. What do I mean by this? Basically, without advertising, these industries wouldn't exist.

A few examples of these industries:

  • Magazines
  • Television
  • Newspapers
  • Internet
Yes, the internet. Without advertising, most of the internet wouldn't exist.

The magical thing about the internet is that most of the stuff out there is free. You get go on Youtube for free. You can get your own personal blog for free. You can check out the latest Justin Bieber news for free.

But have you ever wondered: If you are not paying for this, who is? Many of these online magazines and hosting sites have thousands of staff and huge servers. Who is paying for all these stuff?

The ads are. You are not the customers here. You are the product. The advertising industry are the customers. Internet companies sell you and your attention to advertising firms who will then try and sell you their clients' product.

So basically if the ads weren't there, so wouldn't be Youtube.

The ads help keep most of the internet we love free and unless you want to pay a monthly fee to use Youtube, just keep quiet and watch the 30 second ad. It's just 30 seconds.

I hate my life

I hate my life.

A line that is often used by teenagers. Honestly, I lose my respect for you once you say those few words.

Firstly, it shows immaturity.
We all know that are many people in this world that have it worse than you.
Furthermore, there are people who have already lost their lives. I'm pretty sure that that is definitely worse than any problem you are facing right now. There's no solution to death.

Secondly, it shows that you are not pro-active.
If your life sucks, go make it suck less.

"You think easy is it?" You may reply.

No one said it was going to simple or easy but if you hate your life so much then that should be a strong enough motivation for you to want to change it. So you got 2 choices, living your so-called terrible life or actually doing something and making it better. It's your choice.

However if you don't know what to do. Here's a short list of typical teenage problems with their solutions.

Have terrible parents?
Talk to them. Discuss with them. Tell them why you are unhappy.
If they still refuse to listen or change, you can either:
1. Listen to them cause you are living under their house/they are paying for you
2. Move out. Get a part time job and support yourself.

Yes, it's difficult but it has been done and it is definitely possible.

Heartbroken
Many times people say that they are heartbroken. That is okay. There is no problem with being heartbroken but if you have not even told him/her that you like her and you are heartbroken, I'm going to slap you.
At least do something before giving up. Try your bloody best.
However, you need to understand that even if you try your bloody best, you may not succeed. When that happens, then you need to learn how to give up and move on.

Don't know what you want to do in life
Well, you may not know this but most people in the world have no idea what they want to do too. However, that shouldn't stop you from doing things in general. The best way to find out what you want to do in life is to do as many things as possible. You may be surprised at things that you like and don't like. You may even want to do Math for a living.
Another thing is that many people are afraid to commit to something once they found it. They are afraid that they may change their mind.
A message to these people: IT IS OKAY TO CHANGE YOUR MIND

Doing, learning, changing, growing. There are all part of life so don't be afraid.

Final Note: Don't hate your life. It's the only one you got.
